The Headwaters Project is working to record the names of lakes and rivers within the Headwaters region from a variety of sources and to take detailed and high-quality notes from each of those same sources.

Whether from geological and mineralogical surveys, the journal of an Episcopal missionary, the sources have proven invaluable in preserving and documenting the place names, with particular focus on the names of lakes and rivers within the BWCA and headwaters region, across more than 250 years.
